Notes on origin & primings: Nicaragua’s Jalapa, Estelí, Condega, and Ometepe are the core growing zones, each contributing distinct character to wrapper/binder/filler selection. Primings progress from lower, thinner leaves (Volado/Seco) to mid (Viso) and upper, thicker leaves (Ligero), with Medio Tiempo occasionally appearing at the very top; blenders use them to balance combustion, aroma, oil content, and strength. Shade-grown leaves (e.g., CT/Ecuador) develop thinner, silkier wrappers; San Andrés (Mexico) and Cameroon are classic wrapper origins; Besuki/Sumatra (Indonesia) and Mata Fina/Arapiraca (Brazil) are widely used for wrapper/binder work.
